Athens will be hosting the 20th annual scientific congress of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO). The event will take place from 12-15 October, at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre. The congress is attracting over 3000 clinicians, researchers, and allied providers who will be attending to learn more about implant dentistry.  The official language of the conference is English.

Oral medicine news The EAO meeting is carried out under the theme “Treatment planning in implant dentistry” Professor Friedrich W Neukam said “Planning is an essential step prior to any patient's treatment, dealing with two core issues: what is the goal of the treatment and how do we achieve it,” Professor Neukam will be responsible for the organization of the EAO meeting, along with Professor Asterios Doukoudakis, chairmen of the EAO Scientific Committee.

In addition to informative lectures and presentations, the latest equipment will also be included as one of Europe’s biggest implant dentistry trade exhibitions is being held at the same time alongside the main conference.  Major trade suppliers are said by the EAO website to be represented at the exhibition.

Hence, it is crucial to match patients' expectations and wishes to the latest ‘state of the art' outcomes,” adding “In a next phase and in order to avoid the pitfalls of implant dentistry, the most suitable treatment should be matched to the desired goal and the patient. This enables clinicians to maximize quality management and clinical outcomes.”

Following its annual trend, EAO is going to establish partnerships with a number of local dental societies in the hosting country.
